“I will have poetry in my life. And adventure. And love. Love above all. No… not the artful postures of love, not playful and poetical games of love for the amusement of an evening, but love that… over-throws life. Unbiddable, ungovernable - like a riot in the heart, and nothing to be done, come ruin or rapture. Love - like there has never been in a play.” -Viola De Lesseps (Gwyneth Paltrow)
Enamored. Or perhaps, moved. Enthralled? Astonished? I can’t seem to find the words to intricately carve out how I felt after seeing this movie. But swept away? Definitely. The film had a strong romantic air and linear flow all throughout. As a Shakespeare-enthusiast, every scene was really engaging as each of it takes into a very slightly disputable twist and turn about his personal life and how his work originated (but, of course, I know the storyline is mostly of fiction). Lines from various works of Shakespeare (and some of Christopher Marlowe’s) were also quoted and appeared swiftly during the entire movie
I believe it was also the individuality and distinctive charm of each of the characters that made this movie all the more enjoyable to watch. Comical roles were present to balance out the intense atmosphere of the whole film.
The best part, for me, had to be the final scene; it had exquisitely denoted the bitter reality about love— agonizing and sweet, at the same time.
P.S. I think Joseph Fiennes deserved an award!
An Education
The storyline may not be anything fresh—- a girl giving up her originally hopeful future because of a man, and having the consequent outcome backfire on her face— but I still found it quite pleasurable to watch. Probably because it happened to be on a Valentine’s day when I was perusing this film alone, and misery loves company? (Kidding.) Bitterness aside, I think Carey Mulligan’s role, which highly-possessed some sort of intellectual charm, was incredibly remarkable.

A contemporary film about the twisted reality of love. The story depicts the different phases of a couple’s relationship reflected on the 12 nights out of their 1-year relationship. The sudden turn of events at the last scene was just epic. Oh love, I almost forgot how cruel you can be.
